Melpina Stavridi
First Year Representative
Melpina’s passion for agriculture grew from her love for the outdoors and was sparked during high school when she was first exposed to the agricultural lifestyle. Although she grew up in the suburbs of Adelaide without a farming background, she was immediately drawn to the purpose, hard work, and connection to the land that agriculture offers. Hard work does not intimidate her; rather, it motivates and fuels her commitment to this industry. Melpina is passionate about the role agriculture plays in providing fresh, local food and hopes to contribute to an industry that strengthens the connection between farmers, communities, and the food they produce. During her studies in Agricultural Sciences, she hopes to gain as much experience, exposure, and knowledge in the industry as possible. After completing her studies, she hopes to pursue a career in hands-on agronomy, management, and leadership within agricultural operations.
As a First Year Representative, Melpina hopes to support and encourage her peers as they begin their journey in agriculture. She is passionate about promoting the industry and helping fellow students gain the most out of their university experience. Working alongside the other Agricultural Science representatives, she is committed to building a welcoming and supportive community, connecting students with opportunities within the industry, and ensuring that together they can make the most of their time studying agriculture.
